The Difference Between Painters
Tuesday, September 21st, 2010There was an article in the New York Times recently by a disappointed and somewhat angry consumer who hired someone to do some painting. Notice how I phrased that sentence. From what I read in the Times this consumer didn’t hire a painting contractor, he hired a painter. There is a big difference. Perhaps this analogy will help explain. Suppose you are looking to buy a used car. There are several ways you can go about it. You could buy a used car from a private seller. You could go to a used car lot. Better yet, you might try the previously owned cars offered by major automobile companies that sell and lease new cars. The least expensive of the three wouldn’t necessarily be the private owner. But the most expensive would probably be the new car dealer. Guess who would give you the best service and stand behind the car that you purchased? There is a difference between some one who is selling a car and a company in the business of selling cars.
So when you’re shopping around for a painter don’t hire some one who “does painting”, hire someone who is in the business of painting There is a difference.
